I was posting my reports directly on Medium, then they said those posts can’t be monetized. Then I started posting them on Substack, but I decided to leave. Then I started posting them on Buy Me a Coffee, but I wasn’t thrilled with that either.
Because I was fooling around trying to figure out what to do, I didn’t have a chance to do earnings reports for May, June, or July, so this is a bundled version.

First, I’ll show you what happened on Medium for these three months.

Reads and views were all over the map. I reached my highest number of reads and views in June, but because my read ratio was lower, my income wasn’t as high as it was in May, which you’ll see in a minute.
Followers
In April, I had 5,768 followers, and here’s what that looks like now (this includes May, June, July and up to August 7, the date I’m writing this):
I just hit 7k followers, which is pretty cool. I’ve never had that many followers on any platform before. 😅
Earnings
I’m having an excellent run on Medium, and I’m very grateful for that. Other people’s earnings have been slashed big time, and mine were going in that direction too. But I made an intention to figure it out and get my earnings up, and I started writing about different topics, which helped immensely.
April was the first time I hit $1,000 on Medium, and I hit that mark two more times in May and June. For some reason, July slowed down quite a bit, but I also added August because things are going up again. August earnings are up to August 6th in the image (less than a full week), and you can see that I’m already close to half my July earnings.
For whatever reason, nothing took off in July, and my previous viral articles slowed down.
As you can see, a couple of them look like they’re doing well. And they are. But that mostly happened in August, not July.
I’ll show you what I mean. This is how much my top-earning August stories are doing so far:
“Not Reading This 1 Book Should Be a Crime” and “8 Insanely Overpriced Items” both made the majority of their money iin August, not July.
This is the nature of Medium. Things are up. Things are down. Nothing is predictable.

But there’s not much going on with these other revenue streams, so I’ll just give you the quick and dirty versions. This is for all three months combined.
Affiliate & Benable = $69.56 (This is only affiliate sales, there’s nothing new on Benable. I’m thinking of abandoning Benable completely.)
Amazon KDP = $12.67 (I removed my book for now, so this will go to zero.)
Gumroad = $635.30 (for activity April 19 – July 18, which includes any affiliate sales and takes out affiliate fees and platform fees.)

At this time last year, my income was at $6,545.27. This year it’s $9,054.91. So we’re heading up! But I know I can do better.
Future Plans
I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t focus on one thing at a time. So I decided to use this as a benefit and not a detriment. I’m starting up a bunch of my websites (including this one) and along with Medium and Gumroad, my focus is now going to be:
Creating my own mini online empire.
This is something I’ve been saying I’ve wanted to do since eons ago. Is is the best time to create websites with SEO tanking and AI taking over? Maybe not, but I’m OK with it. It gives me something concrete to focus on.
Here’s what that looks like (so far)…
Make money online projects:
- ChristinaPiccoli.com → This is my main hub to showcase my digital assets. It’ll be like an online portfolio.
- HustlingHousewife.com → This site will focus on documenting my mini online empire. I’ll document what I’m trying out + earnings.
- Intellectualists.com → I started this one on Kit, then moved it to Substack, then stopped it completely. I want to start it up again. (I’m debating about going back to Kit or trying MailerLite.) This will be exactly what it was before…a newsletter featuring a short list of smart resources for busy content creators. I’ll also be able to link to my earnings reports, Medium articles, and Gumroad products.
Fun side projects:
- ComfortableLiar.com → This is a fan website for the band Chevelle. It’s something to work on only when I feel like it.
- A secret project → For my eyes only (for now)
AI experiments:
- PickPlants.com → This is a domain I tried to sell with no takers. So, screw it. I’m going to turn it into something I have AI help me build.
- ReviewedRecipes.com → This will be another job (mostly) for AI!
Business as usual:
- Medium → I’ll continue writing here as long as I can. It’s been my most profitable endeavour so far!
- Gumroad → I’ll work on selling more of my books and coming up with new projects, too.
